Housing and mortgage rates: The housing market likely won’t rebound this year, though money set aside in the stimulus package for weatherization could help. A glut of former BNAS military housing that recently flooded the market has driven prices down by more than a third. Mortgage rates are down but demand remains low. Americans will continue to reel from a 20% to 30% hit on the value of their primary asset, their house, and a rebound probably isn’t in store for 2009.

Fed cuts: People need to borrow and banks need to lend to make the Fed’s moves effective. “The problem is confidence, business confidence and consumer confidence. I don’t think what the Fed is doing is helping.” The stimulus package will take time to work through the economy, provided the Chinese are willing to finance our debt.

I don't want to make the wrong choice. I live in Maine and have good credit.
Any helpful hints?

Ignore the sharks that will spam you with this post. Most are actually looking for victims, you give them your credit info and they steal your idenity with it.

Ask your real estate rep to suggest someone. I am for keeping money in town and personally use only locals. You can spread out, but do the transaction in person.

Countrywide and Wells Fargo are good mortage companies. I have 10 with Wells Fargo and 4 with Country wide.

Whats options do I have to my name removed from a mortgage?

My ex and I (never married) own a house in Maine. We split up over a year and a half ago, and she still lives there. Im having a hard time getting my name removed since she refuses to refinance. What can I do about this, and what are all of my options?

Re-fi is what it takes. You can talk to lender, you can go to court for partition sale, but Re-fi is what does it. However, you're still in title, and you need to get off title too.
