SHREVEPORT, La. -- Home Federal Bancorp, Inc. of Louisiana (the “Company”) (OTC BB: HFBL), the “mid-tier” holding company of Home Federal Savings and Loan Association, reported net earnings for the second quarter ended December 31, 2008 of $139,000, or basic earnings per share of $.04, a decrease of $12,000, or 7.9%, from the $151,000 in net earnings, reported for the second quarter ended December 31, 2007.
The decrease in net earnings for the quarter resulted primarily from a $72,000, or 87.8%, decrease in non-interest income and a $46,000, or 7.3%, increase in non-interest expense. These changes were partially offset by a $102,000, or 13.1%, increase in net interest income, and a $4,000, or 5.3%, decrease in income taxes. The decrease in non-interest income was due to the decrease of $72,000 in gain on sale of investments from the prior year period. The increase in non-interest expense was primarily due to an increase in advertising expense, as well as an increase in other general and administrative expenses. The increase in net interest income for the quarter was primarily due to the decrease in the Company’s cost of funds.
Can you be prosecuted for check fraud for payday loans in Louisiana?

I took out a payday loan via the internet last year and received a call from an attorney stating that I will be prosecuted for check fraud if I don't come up with $850 by tommorrow. I live in Louisiana.
They are using scare tactics to make you pay up. Collection agencies are known to use this and other scare tactics.
You should've paid this loan in the first place.

I am from Louisiana and my score is 593. I am just looking to borrow 2500 dollars to get back on my feet. I just recently got hired for a second job and I make about 2000 a month. The payments can be drafted out of my account, I just need help out of debt. I have payed out two cars, I just have card debt over my head from college mistakes. Does anyone have any suggestion . I am begging
So you have bad credit, right? Doesn't matter. You still have a possibility of getting loans. You must take utmost care before taking out bad credit loans. Otherwise, the very loan may become a repayment burden and a new debt. Therefore, it is not wise to apply for the first such loan offer that comes your way<!--you must do your homework first and then go well prepared for the loan. First, take out all the copies of your credit report from all the three reputed agencies, instead of having the report from just one agency only. The loan provider may ask for the report from any agency.

Check the report thoroughly for any inaccuracies in it. Make sure that all the past payments find a correct mention in it. Secondly, apply for the loans with an improved FICO score. Because of late payments, arrears-->payment defaults or CCJs in your name, your score has slumped. You should try to pay off some easier debts. Your rating will go up a bit in few months. This will help in winning the loan providers' confidence to some extent and the approval may be easier to come.
