Democrats muscle huge stimulus through Congress

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a major victory for President Barack Obama, Democrats muscled a huge, $787 billion stimulus bill through Congress late Friday night in hopes of combating the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Republican opposition was nearly unanimous.

After lobbying energetically for the bill, Obama is expected to sign it within a few days, less than a month after taking office.

Supporters said the legislation would save or create 3.5 million jobs. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., conceded there was no guarantee, but he said that "millions and millions and millions of people will be helped, as they have lost their jobs and can't put food on the table of their families."

Vigorously disagreeing, House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio dumped a copy of the 1,071-page bill to the floor in a gesture of contempt. "The bill that was about jobs, jobs, jobs has turned into a bill that's about spending, spending, spending," he said.

Georges Bank Fish vs. Gulf of Maine Fish Concerning Toxins?

I am always looking for fresh fish low in pollutants (environmental contiminents). Is there any advantage of Georges Bank Fish vs. Gulf of Maine Fish?

It's hard to say these days, because the currents that feed the Georges Bank and Gulf of Maine come out of the Gulf of Mexico, then north along the coast of Florida and the east coast of the USA, until it reaches that area. Unfortunately, these currents pick up and drag along all types of land runoff and pollution along the way. If I were looking for less-pollution affected fish, I would probably expect to find them in the southern hemisphere, harvested near New Zealand, Australia, or Antarctica. Chilean Sea Bass (also known as the Patagonian or Antarctic Toothfish) is very good, but it is being over harvested and is fairly expensive.

could you tell me what a senior vice president makes for a salery and also what a junior vice president makes?

I agree with the answer above! In fact I am a VP in a bank LOL but not in the great state of ME. I think you should ask for job specific salaries, not titles. That would make it easier to answer. There is a big difference in salary for a VP that works in the branch to a VP that works in the investments group.

where can I find a healthy Maine Coon cat that does not break the bank.?

I live on a large property and currently have 3 dogs and 3 cats. My oldest cat is a 13 year old orange tabby. I have been looking for a purebred or close to it maine coon. My local shelter claimed to have several but they are not the real deal. I want a extra large cat. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. As it is cats can be very expensive with veterinary care and so forth. Any ideas on where to look?

you can search on www.kijiji.com if you live in the states. After that, select your state and then pets, then cats. I found many mainecoons on there when I was looking. Some may be breeders, some may not and some may not know what they have. A lot of the posters also post photos of their cats.
