Moody’s to Review Scale for Taxable Municipal Bonds
13.02.09
By Jeremy R. Cooke
Feb. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Moody’s Investors Service is
adjusting how it rates taxable municipal bonds in the U.S. to
make the standards more comparable to debt sold by companies and
countries with similar credit risk.
Moody’s plans eventually to start judging all state and
local government bonds, including the more common tax-exempt
variety, by the same standards used for debt outside the
municipal market. The broader shift has been suspended since
October because of credit-market turmoil.
The New York-based rating company in recent years assigned
so-called global scale ratings to 28 taxable bond issues and
interest-rate swap contracts. They were first designed to be used
in conjunction with municipal grades to aid investors who don’t
normally buy tax-exempt securities, the New York-based ratings
company said.
The latest review will make the ratings directly comparable
to corporate and other bonds, Lisa Washburn , Moody’s team
managing director, said in an interview.

Is it a good time to buy land in a rural town in connecticut for investment?
May 28, 2006 by Bullet | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
Land tends to be a terrible investment. The reason is that your only return of investment is through market appreciation. And, the only way to acquire your appreciation is through the sale of the property. In the meantime, you have property taxes to pay.
If you are buying the land for development, make sure you can build or subdivide the land for building before you purchase. Typically, a seller should provide any engineering or survey work that would indicate its suitability for development.

Is this a good Connecticut based investment firm?
Jul 29, 2007 by Paul W | Posted in Investing
I would like to invest some money into a private investment firm. My research has shown that my best bet is BGW Solutions located in Hartford Connecticut. Has anyone ever done business with BGW Solutions or have any knowledge about their background? They seem like a sound investment firm but I would like some feedback as to if anyone else has or thinks BGW Solutions is a good investment firm. Their website is BgwSolutions.com
Just be aware of the fees and charges associated with what you are doing and read the fine print.
And take all advice for what it is... advice
Your own gut feeling helps no end.
After all advisers have to make commissions on their advice and dont return the money if they are wrong.
at the moment China is printing money like confetti and the rest of the world is lapping it up with cheap products and prices. China based banks are loaning money hand over fist buying up assets willy nilly.
