With just three Republican votes, Congress passed a $787.2 billion stimulus plan that President Obama calls a “once-in-a generation” chance to act boldly and transform the US economy.

The bill aims to create (or save) 3.5 million jobs and help stressed families pay for food, housing, and health care. At $575 billion in spending and $212 billion in tax breaks, the plan also aims to leverage new economic activity and growth.

“Once Congress passes this plan and I sign it into law, a new wave of innovation, activity and construction will be unleashed all across American,” Mr. Obama told workers at a town meeting in East Peoria, Ill., on Thursday.

But the president also had worked for a big, bipartisan vote to show that Washington could also transform its own toxic political culture and find a new direction. That, he did not get.

In the end, no House Republicans voted for the economic recovery bill. It passed the House on Friday by a vote of 246 to 183. (Seven Democrats also opposed the bill.) Hours later, the Senate just barely passed the bill, 60 to 38, with three crucial Republican votes to reach the 60-vote threshold to avoid a filibuster.

Is it different in Washington? I may be moving there. I just started taking college classes and I know I should take to a counselor and I am. I just wanted a quick answer also. Thanks :).

Hello there! I live in Arizona for the past 18 years and I am going to college and getting a 2 in 1 Bachelor Degree in Organizational Management and Education. And I need a total of 120 credits, so that is what you would have to get in order to get a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Right now, I have 6 classes left til I graduate. Hope this has helped you, I am not sure about Washington though. Was s'pose to move there myself, but didn't happen. Good luck.. and hope this was enough information for you. :)

You can find some contact information for Arizona colleges here. http://www.collegereviewed.com/Arizona-Colleges-Universities.html The students always seem to know what's going on since they get to experience the classes and the lifestyle.

Does Arizona have a state tax credit for tuition fees paid?

The Federal Form1040 has the Hope and Lifetime Learning Credits, as well as a an adjustment to income for tuition fees(line 34). Is there something similar on the Arizona state tax return?
